History |
☀ August 23rd 1993 Hyerin was born a few minutes after midnight, impeccable timing on her part really. Her parents hadn't wanted both of their children to have the exact same birthday, only four years apart. She was a tiny little thing with a crazy set of lungs. She cried almost nonstop - day and night - only stopping to take a short nap or two to fuel her wailing. Despite that, she was dearly loved by her parents, and her older brother (even though he thought she was a little monster and once tried to give her away to another family). Eventually the little baby girl quietened down and the family could sleep peacefully, for the most part anyway. ☀ Kindergarten Four year old Hyerin's first day didn't really go to plan. She was an unusually shy child, naturally curious but wary of most things. It hadn't taken long for a fear of leaving her parents' side to develop. They were her safety net when it came to the world outside of their quaint little family home. She hid behind her mother's legs and refused to let go, until finally a kind teacher managed to coax her away with the promise of her very own set of crayons and a smiley face sticker. Even then, socializing with the other children was far too difficult a task, and Hyerin spent most of the time drawing alone. She was more than content with her own company. ☀ Elementary School Six year old Hyerin was still shy and wary of a lot of things, but her curiosity had grown, and was slowly getting the better of her. She came out of her shell a little, and even left her parents' side more often. It was a change welcomed by the whole family. Hyerin tried her best to fit in, but the harder she tried the more she was teased. It was silly name-calling at first, poking fun at her chubby cheeks and resemblance to a baby bird; ugly duckling was probably her least favourite of the bunch and looking back she'd have to give them 0/10 for creativity. After a few months and a lack of response from Hyerin herself, classmates started stealing her belongings, hiding her notebooks, even scribbling on her homework. Sure she was shy, but she was in no way a pushover. Hyerin had a knack for taking bad situations and finding the positive in them, even if it was hard to do. The bullying had very little impact, to everybody's surprise. She decided she didn't really need friends after all, but it was difficult to stop wanting them. ☀ High School Merely thinking of the first day of High School caused twelve year old Hyerin's palms to sweat and her stomach to twist into so many knots she feared it'd stay like that forever. As she'd come to realize, things were never as terrible as she imagined they'd be. Her parents prepared for the worst though; they even expected a panicked phone call half way through the day for them to go rescue her. Hyerin got through her first day on her own, and then the second, and the third. She stopped trying to fit and became content with who she really was, as opposed to being who she had been trying to be. Luckily enough, it worked in her favour. A lot less obnoxious and more laid back, a talented hand at drawing and video games, Hyerin managed to make a few friends. ☀ "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life." As High School came to an end, Hyerin was beginning to plan out her future. She had little interest in anything that didn't call for creativity; she had a hell of a lot of it to put to good use. However her parents made no secret of their distaste towards Hyerin's choice of major. Wanting to seriously pursue anything artistic was ridiculous in their opinion, and try as she might Hyerin couldn't change their mind. Settling for doing something that made watching paint dry seem interesting wasn't an option, regardless of the money or lack thereof. As soon as High School was over, Hyerin moved out of the family home to stay with her brother in Seoul instead. Things between her and her parents weren't going smoothly at all. They argued, and even though she knew they were just trying to do what was best, Hyerin felt it was time to make her own decisions for once. Before enroling at Yonsei she worked in a convenience store until she was 20 years old, saving up as much money as she possibly could. She wanted to be independent from from her parents and not have to ask for a single won to get by. |
Personality |
On the surface Hyerin is calm, composed, very polite, and to people she doesn't know very well that's all she will be. Around friends she's a lot more relaxed and comfortable, perpetually awkward though but that's easily hidden behind her quirkiness. She's a little naive, but in a way that shows she never really laid great importance on spending time with people in the real world. Of course looks can be deceiving, she looks younger and more innocent than she really is, but she knows what's what and her humour can get a little blue at times, especially when she's drunk. Hyerin can go from 0 to 100 real quick when it comes to boundaries with friends. One moment she could be calling someone "-ssi" and the next she could be claiming their bed as her own. She can't seem to maintain a middle ground, but that's only because she gets a little too enthusiastic. |
Facts |
● Lactose intolerant. Pills and drops are a big help, but she tries to avoid most dairy products whenever she can, unless she's having one of her milkshake cravings then there's no stopping her. ● She truly enjoys being a Barista at the Eagle's Nest Cafe. It gives her a chance to meet more people than she usually would between classes or on campus in general. ● It's dumb, she knows, but she's 100% scared of the dark and can't sleep without some source of light in the room. ● Often takes part in Zombie runs, paint ball battles, haunted houses, etc with her classmates. They tend to be a great source of inspiration. ● Somehow manages to get locked in stupid places; an airport bathroom, a supply cupboard, a classroom, and a car. ● Drunk Hyerin is loud, convinced she knows all the words to every song, and very very open. ● Bottomless pit, or maybe sinkhole is more appropriate. Never stops eating. ● Master of Morse Code, and she's currently trying to master Sign Language. |
